What’s an Open Box, and what’s in it for me?

300x250_OpenBoxSaleLots of CowBoomers have noticed products labeled  “EXCLUSIVE BEST BUY OPEN BOX PRODUCT”  and are wondering what makes them special.  Here’s the scoop!

Open box means that the box has been opened, but the item inside is like new and in many cases barely used or not used at all. These items are generally customer returns from the recent holiday shopping season.   For the first time ever, CowBoom is offering these high-quality items directly to our customers, straight off the shelves of Best Buy.

Just like any item that is sold on CowBoom that isn’t factory-sealed brand new, we test these open box items for full functionality.  If they don’t pass the test, they don’t end up on CowBoom. These open box items are labeled ‘like new’ with a product grade of 9.

The CowBoom grading system:

10. Brand New Factory Sealed
9. Like New
8. Almost new, minor signs of use
7. Overall good condition
6. Some fine scratches or minor scuffs
5. Some scratches and/or signs of use
4. Significant scratches or scuffs

Saving the best for last – Open Box items are discounted up to 20% off new prices. These items are in limited quantity for a limited time.  If you’re unsatisfied for any reason, CowBoom will gladly accept the item back 15 days or less of the original delivery date. And don’t worry about the return shipping, we take care of that.

So tell us, have you purchased an Open Box item before – either in-stores or online? What was your experience?

I haven’t been disappointed in an online open box purchase yet.
I just finished spending an Amazon gift card looking through their open box section.

I have faith in the cowboom Testing Team, and have never had any bad Customer Service experience with them. Very thorough in their descriptions of the items.

I worried initially, not being able to look over the item first, specially after our local radio personality bought a DVD player, and it had a porn DVD in it!

    Only had positive experiences.

Does original manufacturer warranty still apply to the items?

    • CowBoom says:

Due to the various circumstances that resulted in these items being available for resale we cannot guarantee that the original manufacturer’s warranty is still valid. We suggest you calling the manufacturer for more details. You can also buy one of our affordable warranties at the time of checkout. Hope that helps!

I do not trust “Open box” items because the box has been opened. The item inside is like new but it is not new. These items are generally customer returns and you do not know what other persons did to your stuff. I like new items, I prefer pay a lil bit more but have a brand new item in my hands. You article is very nice mate
